In my eyes, this Artificer subclass gives away a feat-and-then-some as a low level ability (you could argue that it isn't 100% the feat but it's close enough imo) and counter-acts the penalty by giving the Artificer a bonus to the their fist accuracy. The Artificer right now, at level 13, has a proficiency of +5.
